Bob Marshall Wilderness
Top Attractions: The Chinese Wall, a 22-mile long escarpment that is 1,000 feet high. In “the Bob,” as it is affectionately known, you can escape from the hustle and grind of modern times and truly immerse yourself in nature. You might not see another human being for days. Instead, you can listen to elk bugling; watch grizzly bears and mountain goats pick their way along rocky outcroppings; and let your mind wander as you rest by a tumbling creek.
Know Before You Go: This area is primitive wilderness for more than a million acres. If you aren’t an experienced back-country hiker, you can still access “the Bob” via a guided pack trip with an outfitter.
Driving Directions: We like to access the Bob Marshall through Choteau, so these driving directions take you there. From Choteau or other access points, let your sense of adventure and choice of trailhead take you onward!
